WHY DO WE GET TATTOOS?

What motivates individuals to get tattoos varies greatly, encompassing a multitude of reasons. From documenting life's journey and commemorating meaningful moments to expressing personal connections with artwork and honoring loved ones, the motivations are diverse. As an artist, understanding the underlying WHY is crucial to me. It forms the basis for designing a tattoo that is uniquely tailored to you, reflecting the driving forces behind your choice and the profound significance it holds. By delving into the reasons behind your decision, I aim to forge a connection with you and craft a one-of-a-kind design that resonates with your individuality. My goal is to create distinct and meaningful tattoos for each of my clients, ensuring a personalized and enriching experience.

For me, it all started with my first one (it wasn’t in a tattoo shop) which was a small tribal tattoo that is now covered. From there things just kind of escalated; ankle, calf, shoulder, back, calf, ribs, arms, socks and most recently on my thigh. My favorite tattoo is the one pictured below. It was done by Adam Curry at Ironclad Tattoo (my mentor and the only shop I’ve ever worked out of). This is my daughters kindergarten self portrait. The actual picture hung at the Des Moines Art Museum for a titch as well and now hangs in my shop space. So very proud of you kiddo, you’ve grown so very much, in so many ways over the last 10 years.
